How can one get rid of sorcery present in a house and fortify it against it, and is playing a sound recording of Surat Al-Baqarah sufficient, or must it be recited by one of the household members?

If it is possible to obtain it, magic (sihr) is removed by erasing it if it is written, or by burying it. Ibn Muflih referred to the hadith of Labid ibn al-A'sam's magic cast upon the Prophet, peace be upon him, in which Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, said to the Prophet, peace be upon him: "Would you not extract it?" He replied: "Allah has cured me, and I disliked stirring up evil among the people concerning it." So, he commanded that it be buried.

Reciting Surat al-Baqarah in the house is one of the greatest means of treatment and protection from magic, due to the Prophet's saying, peace be upon him: "Do not turn your houses into graves, for Satan flees from the house in which Surat al-Baqarah is recited." This is achieved by a person reciting it himself, which is preferable, or by means of a recording device.
