Is it permissible for a woman to work in the field of cosmetic surgery (as a doctor, assistant, secretary, or worker) for a cosmetic surgeon who performs cosmetic procedures "without necessity," such as skin peeling, hair removal, breast augmentation, reduction, and lift, nose reduction, removal of age-related wrinkles, lip augmentation, and eyelash extensions, which the surgeon describes with the phrase: "Choose the look you desire for yourself"?

Cosmetic surgery is divided into two categories: The first is for removing a defect or restoring normal function, which is permissible. The second is for enhancing beauty without the presence of a defect, and this is not permissible. The details of this are in the resolution of the Islamic Fiqh Academy, which permitted necessary and essential cosmetic surgery to restore the form and function of organs, to repair congenital and acquired defects that cause harm, and to remove disfigurement that causes psychological or physical harm. Whereas, beautification cosmetic surgery that alters the normal creation according to whims is not permissible. Ibn Uthaymin indicated that cosmetic surgery to remove a defect is permissible, but excessive cosmetic surgery to enhance creation is forbidden. There is no harm for one who studies this science, but it is not permissible to perform forbidden operations; rather, it is advised against them. Likewise, it is not permissible to assist in forbidden cosmetic operations, acting upon His (Allah's) saying: "And do not cooperate in sin and aggression."
