What is the ruling on returning a wife to her husband after he has divorced her for the third time with the words "you are divorced," based on the premise that the divorce did not take effect because her name was not mentioned, and considering it a revocable divorce?

It is not a condition to mention the wife’s name with the utterance of divorce for it to take effect; rather, the husband's intention towards his wife is sufficient. As for a triple divorce, it has two forms: The first is the agreed-upon form, which is three separate divorces with a return (reconciliation) in between them. This necessitates a major irreversible divorce (baynunah kubra). The second is the disputed form, which is divorce uttered with a single phrase (such as “You are divorced by three”). The matter of this form is referred to the Sharia judge. In the first form, the husband cannot take his wife back until she marries another husband, and the ruling of the marriage officiant (ma’dhun) is not considered authoritative in this regard.
