Is it permissible for a person afflicted with urinary incontinence, who is harmed by using a bandage or cloth [to contain it], to stop using it despite expecting drops of urine to soil places?

The person afflicted with سلس (incontinence) must wash the impure area and bandage it (تعصيب) along with performing ablution for each prayer. However, if bandaging causes an unbearable harm, its obligation is dropped, as some scholars have stated. It is mentioned in Asna al-Matalib: "And the one with سلس takes precautions like her [the woman with irregular bleeding]." And in Tuhfat al-Muhtaj: "Yes, if she is harmed by the stuffing or bandaging, and the accumulation of blood pains her, it is not obligatory for her." As for the Malikis, bandaging is not obligatory for them; it is only recommended, and it is permissible to follow this opinion.
