Does not the noble verse: {And do not exchange My verses for a small price} apply to the فقهاء (jurists) and huffaz (memorizers) of the Quran (the students) when they accept money for events to which they are invited? And what is the interpretation of this verse?

The noble verse, "And do not exchange My verses for a small price, and fear Me alone" (Al-Baqarah: 41), was revealed concerning the Jews. Its meaning is: Do not take a wage for the knowledge of His Book that Allah has given you, or do not sell the knowledge that has come to you for a paltry worldly price. Their selling of Allah's verses was by concealing the matter of Muhammad, peace be upon him, and their contentment with worldly leadership. These verses, although revealed concerning the Jews, their meaning encompasses everyone who conceals Allah's judgment or takes a bribe for it, because the lesson is in the generality of the wording, not the specificity of the reason.
