Is the wife asking for more than her right if she asks her husband to care for her and their children more than he cares for his brother?
Allah has made it obligatory upon the husband to care for and raise his children, and to live with his wife in kindness, as stated in His Almighty words: "O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire" and "And live with them in kindness."
The husband should not introduce anything into his life that comes between him and his family, and he should balance his familial duties with his relationship with his own relatives. Likewise, the wife should not create discord between her husband and his family.
The wife is advised to be gentle with her husband and to show him that she is not bothered by his relationship with his brother. She should not instill hatred in her children's hearts towards their uncle. If she perceives any shortcoming from her husband, the disapproval and reminder should be done kindly and by subtle suggestion.
The husband may improve his treatment of his wife's family if he sees her treating his family well.
