The prophetic traditions (hadiths) collectively describe Satan's enmity towards humankind and his constant lying in wait for them. He flows through the son of Adam like blood, but he retreats and falls back when he hears the remembrance of Allah. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, Satan flows through the son of Adam like blood," and he said: "When Satan hears the call to prayer, he departs until he reaches the place called Al-Rawha'," and "Indeed, Satan places his snout on the heart of the son of Adam; if he remembers Allah, he retreats, and if he forgets Allah, he devours his heart." Iblis may dispatch his battalions to cause discord, and the one held in highest esteem by him is he who separates a man from his wife.
