The answer

The money obtained from selling the crop is not to be added to other money the seller possesses. Rather, its owner initiates a new [] year with it, and pays its zakat when a full Hijri year passes from its acquisition, provided it reaches the (minimum threshold) by itself or when combined with other cash or trade goods. If it is not combined with other funds during the year, then because it is acquired wealth and not a growth of existing capital, its zakat is not obligatory until a full year has passed, according to the majority of scholars. If a person wishes to pay the zakat on this money along with his other wealth, he may do so, as expediting the zakat payment within the year is permissible and entails no sin, according to the majority of scholars.
