What is the ruling on using a "gold-plated" tea set, or gifting it to a non-Muslim, or destroying it, given the inability to remove the plating?

If the gold plating is very minimal such that it is consumed into the material of the vessel when exposed to fire, then it is excused. However, if it can be separated, then it is not permissible to use it for eating and drinking, nor to gift it to someone who would use it for those purposes. As for its use for purposes other than eating and drinking, there there is a difference of opinion among scholars: some have restricted the prohibition to eating and drinking, while others have forbidden all types of use.
