What is the ruling on the action of a husband who takes the remaining money from the sale of his wife's gold without her knowledge, and refuses to give her money for her basic needs, knowing that he does not pray and she is patient and a believer?

The wife's maintenance is obligatory upon her husband. If he withholds any of her rights, she is permitted to take it from his wealth without his knowledge. It is not permissible for the husband to take his wife's money except with her consent. If he does not return her right to her, she may take it from his wealth. The wife must advise her husband who is negligent in his religious duties, especially prayer. If he does not repent, she should seek a divorce through khul'.
