Does a divorce take place when the husband says to his wife: "If your comfort lies in divorce, then you may inform your family that I have divorced you"?

The fundamental principle regarding divorce is that it is detested, and a woman is prohibited from seeking divorce without a valid reason. However, if she dislikes her husband and fears she may not fulfill his rights, then she is permitted to seek Khul' from him in exchange for her mahr or a portion of it. As for the phrase, "I answered your wife when she asked you for divorce," divorce does not occur by it as long as you did not intend to effect divorce with it.
