How many are the conditions for prayer?

The conditions for prayer are divided into conditions of obligation (shurut al-wujub) and conditions of validity (shurut al-sihha).

The conditions of obligation are: Islam, maturity (puberty), sanity, and being free from impediments such as the cessation of menstruation.

As for the conditions of validity, they are: 1. The entry of the prayer time. 2. Purification from the two ritual impurities (minor and major) by performing ablution (wudu'), ritual bathing (ghusl), or dry ablution (tayammum). 3. Purification from physical impurities (najasa) on the clothing, body, and place. 4. Covering the 'awrah (parts of the body that must be covered). 5. Facing the Qiblah (except for supererogatory prayers performed by a rider). 6. Intention (niyyah).
