Is it permissible for the mother to keep half of her children's monthly income without the father's knowledge, while giving him the other half, in order to protect their money from the father's extravagance, knowing that the father does not fear Allah in financial matters, claims to spend on them, and there is a fear of the children's money being lost?

The father's expenditure on his children, if they have wealth, should be from their own wealth, unless the father or someone else donates it.

If the husband donates the expenditure, it is permissible to save the children's money without his knowledge. If he does not donate, it is permissible to save what exceeds their expenses.

As for the Hadith: "You and your wealth belong to your father," it is authentic. However, the majority of jurists conditioned taking from the child's wealth on the father's need. Their evidence is the Hadith of Aisha: "Indeed, your children are a gift from Allah to you... So they and their wealth are yours, if you are in need of them."

Whereas the Hanbalis believe that the father may take from his child's wealth as he wishes, whether the father is in need or not, provided that he does not unduly burden or harm the son, and does not take to give it to another child.
