Is it permissible for a father to take all the money of his children who work with him and spend it on himself and his young children, giving them nothing from their earnings, while he takes the money paid to them? And is he entitled to divide the inheritance, which they helped produce, equally among all heirs, knowing that they are the elder ones?
The rights of parents are great after the rights of Allah Almighty. Allah Almighty has linked His rights with theirs in many verses, including His saying: (And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And to parents, do good). Allah has commanded us to accompany non-Muslim parents with kindness, even if they strive to deny Allah's right, which emphasizes the greatness of their rights. The son must comfort his father and spend on him if he is in need. The father has the right to take from his son's money what he needs without extravagance or harm to the son, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "You and your wealth belong to your father." However, if the father will spend the money extravagantly or in a way that harms the son, the son is not obligated to enable him, lest he assist him in falsehood. One must honor the father and deal with him with wisdom and gentleness, negotiating with him calmly and explaining the duties and responsibilities of the children. As for the inheritance, if what the children are doing is merely assisting the father, they do not have the right to claim anything when the inheritance is divided except their legal share. However, if they are working on a partnership basis, they must clarify this now and determine their share of the money to avoid disputes after the father's death.
