What is your advice to a person suffering from frustration and anxiety because of a wife who is irresponsible and neglects him, and problems with her non-Muslim family, and fears divorce out of concern that he will not see his child or other bad things in a non-Muslim country?
It is advisable to treat the wife with kindness and to teach her her duties, explaining that marital life is based on each party fulfilling their role. Family members should not be involved in domestic problems; instead, efforts should be made to resolve them between the spouses. If there is no responsiveness, moving to another city or country might be a way to rectify the wife's behavior. If this is not possible or the wife refuses, and the husband can obtain custody of the children without harm, then there is no objection to divorce. However, if he cannot obtain custody of the children and they would grow up in a disbelieving environment, it is advisable to be patient with the wife and endure her shortcomings to protect the children from negative influences.
