Did the Jews truly say that Ezra is the son of God, as is mentioned in Surat At-Tawbah, verse 30?

Historically, truth has confronted falsehood through doubts raised by its enemies, who have attempted to distort facts under the guise of science. An example of this is the Almighty's saying: (And the Jews say, "Ezra is the son of Allah"; and the Christians say, "The Messiah is the son of Allah"). This verse indicates that factions among the Jews and Christians said this, not all Jews and Christians. Al-Qurtubi clarified that the wording is general but its meaning is specific to some of them, and that the statement "Ezra is the son of Allah" was uttered by a few of the early Jews. As for the Christians, they are various factions: some said the Messiah is the son of Allah, some said he is Allah, and some said he is the third of three.
