When Allah commanded the fighting against the People of the Book from the Jews and Christians, He mentioned the reason for that, which is their disbelief and polytheism, as they attributed a child to Allah, while He is the One and Only. The Jews said Ezra is the son of Allah, and he is a righteous man from the Children of Israel who preserved the Torah, and they exaggerated regarding him. The Christians said the Messiah is the son of Allah. Allah criticized them for that and informed that they resemble the polytheists who said the angels are the daughters of Allah."
