The answer

There is no authentic hadith with the wording "إذا مات ابن العبد" (when the son of the servant dies) or "إذا مات أبو العبد" (when the father of the servant dies). However, it is narrated in Musnad Imam Ahmad and Al-Tirmidhi that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "When the child of a servant dies, Allah says to His angels: 'You have taken the soul of My servant's child?' They say: 'Yes.' He says: 'You have taken the fruit of his heart?' They say: 'Yes.' He says: 'What did My servant say?' They say: 'He praised You and said: "To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return" (Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un).' Then Allah says: 'Build for My servant a house in Paradise and call it the House of Praise (Bayt al-Hamd).'"
