What is the ruling on a woman shaving her pubic hair, leaving a small part of it, and tattooing something above it for the purpose of adornment for her husband?
It is from the Sunnah, and shaving the pubic hair is among the characteristics of the fitra (natural disposition) that the Prophet commanded us to do, as he said: "The fitra are five: circumcision, shaving the pubic hair, trimming the mustache, clipping the nails, and plucking the armpit hair." And al-istihdad is shaving the pubic hair. It is not permissible to leave any part of the pubic hair. The Sunnah is to shave it every week, and it should not be left for more than forty days.
Tattooing is forbidden in Islamic law. The Prophet cursed women who tattoo and women who get tattooed. It is not permissible for a woman to adorn herself with it, as the Sharia has permitted many types of permissible adornments that suffice one from what Allah has forbidden.
