Is it permissible for the wife to leave the hair of the pubic area unshaven if that pleases the husband during intercourse, or must she shave it in accordance with the Sunnah?

For both men and women, shaving the pubic hair is a confirmed Sunnah. It is part of the 'fitra' (natural disposition) and serves to improve one's appearance, cleanse the body, and enhance relations with others. Imam An-Nawawi stated that it is agreed upon as a Sunnah, and it may become obligatory for a wife if her husband commands her to do so, especially if the hair has become excessive. It is not permissible to delay it for more than forty days.
