Does God record a reward for the sorrowful and oppressed person who feels sadness and deficiency?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

All calamities, pains, worries, and sorrows that afflict a believer are expiations for their sins and a means by which Allah grants them reward. This is based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor suffering, nor grief, nor even a prick of a thorn afflicts a Muslim but that Allah expiates some of his sins by it." And based on his (peace be upon him) saying: "Wondrous is the affair of the believer, for there is good in every affair of his, and this is not the case with anyone except the believer. If he is pleased, he thanks (Allah), and there is good for him in it. If he is distressed, he is patient, and there is good for him in it."
