What is the ruling on working in the Social Fund for Development and similar institutions that offer interest-bearing subsidized loans to youth?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Allah has forbidden usury with explicit texts in the Quran and Sunnah, and its prohibition is known by necessity in the religion. Its prohibition indicates that the lender is only entitled to his principal, as Allah Almighty said: "And if you repent, you may have your principal – [thus] you do no wrong, nor are you wronged." Every loan that draws benefit is usury. Lending to the fund with subsidized interest is forbidden usury, and it is not permissible to work with them, because the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Allah has cursed the one who consumes usury, the one who pays it, the one who writes it down, and the two who witness it." He said: "They are all equal." And because Allah Almighty said: "And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression."
