What is the ruling on reciting Al-Fatihah when a girl is proposed to?

Reciting the Quran is among the best acts of drawing closer to Allah. However, specifying the recitation of a particular Surah at a particular time or in a particular situation requires legal (Shari'ah) proof. The recitation of Surat Al-Kahf on Friday has been established by proof. As for restricting the recitation of a Surah or verses to a situation for which no legal proof has been reported, this is considered an additive innovation (bid'ah idafiyyah). The recitation of Al-Fatiha during the sermon has not been established by proof; therefore, it is considered an additive innovation that is not permissible to perform.
