Is it problematic to constantly advise children, deprive them of play and recreation, and even deprive them during Eid, due to their failure to complete memorization of the Noble Qur'an? And will they come to dislike memorization because of this treatment? What is your advice for dealing with them? And what is the ruling on the Imam reciting from the Mushaf in order during loud prayers to strengthen his memorization, and does his occasional stammering or errors, which are corrected by the muezzin or worshippers, affect the validity of his prayer or theirs?

The questioner is thanked for his interest in raising his children and helping them memorize the Quran, with a reminder to be gentle with them and not to overburden them or assign them what they cannot bear, especially during their rest times. This is because it might alienate them from studying, and it contradicts the practice of Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding teachers being gentle with children and organizing their study times.

It is appropriate to vary memorization methods between encouragement and tangible and intangible incentives, while instilling sincerity and love for the Quran in their souls. There is no harm in using negative incentives in moderation when needed.

As for the question of reciting a full ختمة (complete recitation of the Quran) in audible prayers, there is no objection to it for strengthening memorization or for other reasons, as long as the doer does not believe it is a Sunnah, due to the generality of Allah’s saying: {So recite what is easy for you of the Quran} [73:20], and the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) saying: "Then recite what is easy for you of the Quran."
