Is it permissible for a menstruating woman to perform ruqyah for herself and for others?

It is permissible for a menstruating woman to perform ruqyah (exorcism/healing through Quranic recitation) on herself or on others, using the legitimate ruqyah, whether it involves non-Quranic supplications or Quranic verses, according to the preponderant opinion. This is the madhhab of Imam Malik and a narration from Imam Ahmad, and it was chosen by Sheikh al-Islam and Ibn al-Qayyim. The argument of those who prohibit it has been refuted due to the weakness of the hadith cited for prohibition and the difference between a menstruating woman and someone in a state of major ritual impurity (junub) regarding the inability to remove the ritual impurity. Furthermore, some jurists have permitted a person in a state of major ritual impurity to recite the Quran for seeking refuge, for ruqyah, and for deriving evidence.
