What is the ruling on repeating positive affirmations such as: "I am confident," "I always deserve the best," "I deserve happiness, respect, and appreciation," "I am successful," and the like, as well as repeating the phrase: "Everything works in my favor, by Allah's will"?

Good omens, good thoughts about Allah, and self-confidence, coupled with reliance upon Allah, are all things required by the Shari'ah. A Muslim should have good thoughts about Allah, be optimistic about good outcomes, and strive to achieve their goals, seeking Allah's help. For the strong are more beloved to Allah than the weak. As for a lack of self-confidence, it is a form of helplessness that Islam does not condone. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to seek refuge from helplessness. One must consider the consequences of actions and be wary of the causes of failure. Repeating negative phrases is not a legitimate remedy according to the Shari'ah.
