Is threatening one's wife with divorce if she does not leave her job to dedicate herself to the home and children considered a sin, given that the husband is capable of providing a comfortable life and the wife refuses to leave her job under the pretext of helping her financially well-off family?

If the wife did not stipulate working in the marriage contract, then the husband has the right to prevent her from working as long as he provides for her financially. Her desire to help her family is not an excuse to go out without his consent. However, if she stipulated working, the husband's adherence to this condition is contingent upon the family not being harmed. The husband may request his wife to stop working after having previously given permission if doing so serves the family's interest. The husband's action of ordering his wife to stay home to care for their daughter, or giving her the choice between that and divorce, is not a sin. However, divorce or threatening with it is not advisable. They should reach an understanding amicably. If her work does not harm religious or household interests, then there is no objection to allowing her to work. Otherwise, he should explain the harm to her and seek mediation from someone who can speak to her. Divorce is disliked in Islamic law and should not be resorted to unless reconciliation is impossible.
