What is the ruling on placing something religiously revered in a cupboard, above which is a television displaying unlawful things?

It is not forbidden to place the Mushaf (copy of the Qur’an) in a television cabinet or near it, as long as it is protected from disrespect. However, it is preferable to place it away from the television if inappropriate programs are being displayed on it. There is no harm in placing it on top of the television if nothing is being broadcast, or if what is being broadcast is not impermissible.
