Is it permissible to place the Mushaf on the ground (carpet) when reciting the Qur’an?
If there is something available to raise the Mushaf above the carpet, or if lifting it by hand is not difficult, then raising it is obligatory out of veneration and respect for it. Some scholars have even gone to the extent of prohibiting placing the Mushaf on the ground. However, if there is nothing available to place the Mushaf upon, and holding it would be difficult for the reciter, then placing it on the carpet is not considered a degradation of it, provided that the carpet is pure and clean.
