What is the ruling on placing the Qur’an and religious books on the ground: is it forbidden or disliked?

Scholars have mentioned a difference of opinion regarding the ruling on placing the Mushaf (Quran) on a clean floor. Some have forbidden it, while others have permitted it. It is preferable to exercise caution and avoid doing so. As for books of Islamic knowledge, some scholars have assimilated them to the Mushaf in ruling, except for what has been exempted, such as the prohibition of touching without ritual purity.
