Is it permissible for me to slaughter one sheep for the 'Aqiqah in my country, and for my family to slaughter the other in their distant place of residence, where there are many poor and needy people?

The Sunnah for 'Aqiqah is to sacrifice two sheep for a boy and one sheep for a girl. If the father is unable to provide the second sheep for the boy, there is no harm in sacrificing only one sheep for him, as it is sufficient and counts. There is also no objection to the wife's family sacrificing another sheep as 'Aqiqah for the newborn, provided the father gives his permission. The presence of needy people in the wife's residential area increases the importance of performing the 'Aqiqah there, so they may benefit from it.
