Is it permissible to fast Friday alone if it coincides with the middle of Sha‘ban?

Designating the middle of Sha'ban for fasting is not prescribed, as there is no evidence to support its validity. A weak hadith has been reported concerning this matter.

Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen mentioned that dedicating the middle of Sha'ban to specific recitation, remembrance, or fasting has no basis. The middle of Sha'ban is like the middle days of other months.

It is prescribed to fast the White Days (13th, 14th, and 15th) of every month.

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to fast frequently in Sha'ban, so it is recommended to emulate him.

Therefore, singling out Friday for fasting merely because it coincides with the middle of Sha'ban is not prescribed. The dislike of singling out Friday for fasting has been mentioned.
