What is the ruling on the emission of palpable air bubbles from the anus during prayer, necessitating the repetition of ablution and prayer, and does this prevent devotion (khushu') and the performance of supererogatory prayers (nawafil)?

If the worshiper finds a time sufficient to perform the prayer with valid purity (taharah) and a strong presumption that no wind will be emitted, then he must wait for this time, even if he misses the beginning of the prayer time or congregational prayer. This is because praying with certain purity takes precedence.

If he does not find a time during which no wind will be emitted, then his ruling is that of one afflicted with سلس (urinary incontinence or constant discharge); he performs ablution (wudu') for each prayer after its time has begun and prays with this ablution the obligatory (fard) and supererogatory (nafl) prayers until the prayer time expires. He is not harmed by any wind that may be emitted, as long as he does not invalidate his ablution by another means, and he is not required to perform istinja' (washing the private parts) or purify the area.
