What is the fate of the disobedient Muslim on the Day of Judgment?
Sins are of two types: minor and major. Major sins are every disobedience that is accompanied by a severe threat or necessitates a prescribed punishment (hadd), such as associating partners with Allah, killing a soul, sorcery, consuming usury, devouring the property of an orphan, fleeing on the day of battle, and slandering chaste women. Minor sins are those not accompanied by a severe threat or a prescribed punishment, such as looking at a non-mahram woman. Persistence in minor sins turns them into major sins. Avoiding major sins, when able, and performing the obligatory duties atone for minor sins. If a major sin doer has the prescribed punishment (hadd) applied to them, that serves as an expiation for them, even if they did not repent. If they repent with sincere repentance, their repentance is accepted. Whoever dies having committed a major sin and without repenting, their fate is under the will of Allah; He may punish them if He wills, or forgive them if He wills. A disobedient Muslim who dies having committed minor sins, and who was performing the obligatory duties and avoiding major sins, Allah will forgive them and admit them into Paradise.
