What is the ruling on sleeping on a bed under which there are religious books containing Quranic verses?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

A Muslim must respect and preserve whatever contains the Qur’an or the names of Allah, out of reverence for the sacred things of Allah. There is no harm, Allah willing, in placing books containing something from the Qur’an or the names of Allah under the bed, if they are separate from the bed, because the bed acts as a ceiling for them. Likewise, there is no harm if the books are part of the bed and attached to it, and there is a need to place them there, as long as the intention is not disdain or disrespect, and one sleeps on the bed and not directly on the books.
