What is the ruling on placing a mat with verses from the Holy Quran written on it on a desk where books are placed and writing is done, and is there any degradation of the word of Allah in that?

It is not permissible to place the Qur’an in a place where it will be subjected to indignity. Therefore, if placing a bedspread on the desk will lead to the desecration of the Qur’an by writing on it or placing tools and utensils on top of it, then it is not permissible. It is forbidden to write the Qur’an on items that are treated with indignity, such as bedspreads that are walked upon or have things placed on them.
