There is no harm in reading the Qur’an from the Mushaf while one is lying down, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to recline and recite the Qur’an. It is permissible for a person to recite the Qur’an in any state they may be in: standing, sitting, or reclining, whether they are in a state of ritual purity (wudu) or have a minor impurity, if the recitation is from memory. However, if reading from the Mushaf, one must perform wudu to touch it.
