Is it permissible for a woman to propose marriage to a man, following the example of Lady Khadijah who proposed marriage to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and how can a woman propose marriage to someone whose religiosity and character she admires in a way that preserves her dignity?

A woman is permitted to offer herself for marriage to a righteous man she desires. It is preferable that this be done through one of her mahrams (unmarriageable kin) or a woman from her family or his family. Indeed, Khadijah offered herself for marriage to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, when she learned of his trustworthiness, his good character, and his truthfulness in speech. Then, his uncle Hamza sought her hand in marriage from Khuwaylid ibn Asad.
