Must the expiatory fasting for unintentional killing be completed after its interruption due to pregnancy, or must the fasting be resumed from the beginning?

The expiation for unintentional killing is the freeing of a believing slave. If one cannot find [a slave to free], then it is fasting for two consecutive months. If the person expiating fasts some days and then breaks the fast due to a legitimate Shari'ah-approved excuse, such as illness or menstruation for a woman, the continuity is not broken, and they complete the days they had previously fasted. As for mere pregnancy, it does not permit breaking the fast unless it is accompanied by hardship or fear for the fetus. In this case, a doctor should be consulted, and if the doctor advises breaking the fast, it becomes an excuse, and the fasting is completed after the excuse is over.
