Is it permissible for someone who performed ghusl for Friday, believing that ghusl and rinsing the mouth, sniffing water into the nose, and expelling it were obligatory, to go to prayer without performing wudu’, believing that the Friday ghusl suffices for wudu’?

There are different types of ghusl (ritual bath): A ghusl that does not suffice for wudu' (ablution), such as a ghusl for cleanliness or cooling, and a ghusl that does suffice for wudu', such as ghusl from janabah (major ritual impurity), menstruation, and post-natal bleeding. This is because the minor ritual impurity is subsumed within the major one. As for a recommended ghusl, like the ghusl for Friday prayer, there is a difference of opinion on whether it suffices for wudu' or not. The safer and more exculpatory approach is to perform wudu' along with it. Whoever prayed with the ghusl for Friday, thinking it sufficed for wudu', is not commanded to repeat past prayers, being excused by their ignorance. However, they must perform wudu' in the future.
