What should a young man who secretly embraced Islam four years ago do to be able to declare his conversion and fully perform his religious duties, while avoiding harm from his family? And is it permissible for him to marry a Muslim girl while officially registered as a Christian?

We congratulate you on your guidance to Islam and ask Allah to keep you steadfast. We advise you to adhere to the commands of Allah and avoid His prohibitions. If you are unable to practice your religion safely, then you must emigrate to another country where you can do so, just as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, guided his Companions to emigrate to Abyssinia, and just as the repentant scholar was advised to move to a righteous land. Strive to learn your religion using modern means, communicate with scholars, and make abundant supplications. It is not a requirement to formally declare your Islam to perform good deeds or to marry a Muslim woman.
