What is the expiation for tearing the Qur’an in half 12 years ago, along with severe repentance and regret?

Cutting the Mushaf (copy of the Qur’an) unintentionally, without intending disdain, is a sin that requires sincere repentance, regret, and a firm resolve not to repeat it. However, cutting it with the intention of belittling it is apostasy from Islam. The jurists have agreed that whoever belittles the Mushaf or attempts to disrespect it commits an act of disbelief (kufr). The repentance of an apostate is accepted if he utters the two Shahadas (declarations of faith) and returns to Islam. If the cutting of the Mushaf occurred during extreme anger, such that the doer did not realize what he was doing, then there is no sin upon him.
