Is it permissible to sell honey after a mouse has fallen into it and been removed?

The mouse is a pure animal. If it falls into honey and is removed alive, it does not contaminate it. However, if the mouse dies in the honey, then:

- If the honey is solid: The mouse and the surrounding honey should be discarded, and the rest remains pure, based on the saying of the Prophet, peace be upon him, regarding a mouse that fell into ghee: "Discard it and what surrounds it, and eat your ghee."

- If the honey is liquid: It becomes impure immediately upon the death of the mouse in it, according to the majority of scholars. They cite the hadith (definition): "If it is solid, discard it and what surrounds it, and if it is liquid, do not approach it."

However, Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah and others believe that it does not become impure unless it changes, asserting that there is no evidence from the Quran or Sunnah (definition) for its impurity.

When honey is judged impure, its sale is prohibited. When it is pure, it is permissible. It is preferable not to use or sell it when there is a strong difference of opinion.
