The answer

The jurists have agreed on the virtue of memorizing the Qur’an, and encouragement for memorizing the Holy Qur’an has been mentioned in many hadiths, such as the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "The best among you is he who learns the Qur’an and teaches it," and his saying: "Indeed, Allah Almighty raises some people with this speech and lowers others," and his saying: "There is no envy except in two: a man whom Allah has given the Qur’an, so he recites it during the hours of the night and the hours of the day," and his saying: "Indeed, the one who has nothing of the Qur’an inside him is like a ruined house." However, the jurists do not consider its memorization obligatory, except for Al-Fatihah, due to the obligation of reciting it in prayer.
