Does Allah Almighty forgive all sins - including major sins - for those who attend gatherings of remembrance or knowledge, based on the noble Hadith: "No people sit remembering Allah... Arise, you are forgiven, and your evil deeds have been replaced by good deeds. And among them is so-and-so who only came for a need... and he too has been forgiven, their companion will not be miserable with them"?

The aforementioned Hadith is authentic and indicates the immense grace and mercy of Allah. Its general application is specific to minor sins, as it is qualified by other authentic Ahadith such as: "The five daily prayers, Jumu'ah to Jumu'ah, and Ramadan to Ramadan are expiations for what occurs between them, so long as major sins are avoided," and "There is no Muslim who attends a prescribed prayer and perfects its ablution, its humility, and its bowing, except that it will be an expiation for his previous sins, as long as he does not commit a major sin, and that is for all time." Therefore, major sins are not included in the expiation mentioned in these Ahadith; rather, they are expiated by sincere repentance.
