ما هي الوسطية في الدين؟

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The phrase "Islam is the religion of moderation" has become widespread, and it is a truth supported by legitimate evidence from the Quran and Sunnah. It means that the Muslim nation is the nation of choice and justice, which avoids extremism and negligence.

However, some have misused this phrase to promote "dilution" of Islamic rulings, and to stand in the middle between truth and falsehood, or Sunnah and innovation, or even disbelief and Islam. This is an invalid use.

True moderation is adherence to the Sharia of Allah Almighty, and it exists between two matters that are both fundamentally wrong. For extremism and negligence are both blameworthy, and the best of affairs are their middle. Moderation is what the Sharia has brought, not what contradicts it.
