The hadith that mentions 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud among the ten promised Paradise has a weak chain of transmission due to the presence of Abu Hudhayfah (Musa ibn Mas'ud), who was known for his poor memory.

Other narrations from Sa'id ibn Zayd do not mention Ibn Mas'ud among the ten; rather, he mentions himself as the tenth.

'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him, is covered by the general texts that promise Allah's pleasure to the Companions, such as the Almighty's saying: (Not equal among you are those who spent before the conquest [of Makkah] and fought. Those are greater in degree than those who spent after and fought. But to all has Allah promised the best [reward]. And Allah is acquainted with what you do) [Al-Hadid: 10].

Furthermore, two authentic hadiths have been reported about him: The first states that his legs will be heavier in the Balance than Uhud, and the second is the Prophet's (peace be upon him) command to believe what Ibn Mas'ud narrates.
