Is this considered an insult to the religion and an apostasy from the faith, and does the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, apply to it: "Indeed, a man may utter a word, thinking it harmless, yet he falls with it into Hell for seventy years?"

Reviling God is disbelief, outwardly and inwardly, whether the speaker knows that reviling is disbelief or is ignorant of it, or deems it permissible, or does not deem it permissible, or intends disbelief or does not intend it. If the speaker intends the words that indicate reviling, even if joking, then he is a disbeliever. However, if he does not intend the words or the reviling, and his tongue slips, he is not held accountable for it. The questioner must repent and seek forgiveness, avoid words that lead to Allah's wrath, and follow the guidance of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in guarding the tongue.
