Is it permissible to make up missed prayers after the 'Asr prayer, citing the Hadith: "Whoever forgets a prayer or sleeps through it, its expiation is to pray it when he remembers it"? And should the present prayer be shortened when traveling if there are missed prayers? And should missed prayers be made up in full or shortened? And should audible prayers be recited audibly when making up missed prayers? And is it permissible to pray Witr while having many missed prayers?

Scholars agree on the obligation to make up missed prayers due to a valid excuse. The majority of scholars hold that it is obligatory to make up prayers for those who missed them without an excuse, and this is the more cautious approach. A Muslim makes up missed prayers from when they were residents (not traveling) in full, whether they make them up during travel or when resident.

As for audibility (jahr) in made-up prayers, scholars differed on this:

- The Malikis and a statement of the Shafi'is hold that the made-up prayer should be performed according to how it was at the time of its original performance, whether audibly or silently. - The Hanafis hold that audibility applies to a made-up night prayer if it is made up at night, and silence applies to a made-up day prayer if it is made up at night, and the individual performing alone has a choice. - The Shafi'is, according to the more correct view, hold that the consideration is given to the time of making up the prayer; one performs audibly from sunset until sunrise and silently from sunrise until sunset. - The Hanbalis hold that the worshiper performs a missed audible prayer silently during the day, and audibly when making up an audible prayer at night if it is performed in congregation.

Ibn Baz and Ibn Uthaymeen argued that making up prayers should imitate their original performance in terms of audibility and silence.

As for performing supererogatory (nafl) prayers before making up missed obligatory prayers, there is a difference of opinion among scholars on this matter.
