Is it permissible to translate the Friday sermon while it is being delivered, knowing that the noble Hadith states: "If you say to your companion, while the Imam is delivering the sermon on Friday, 'Be silent,' you have indeed spoken idly, and he who speaks idly has no Friday [reward]"?

Translating during the sermon violates the commanded attentiveness (insat), and the sermon, according to the majority of scholars, must be in Arabic. The ideal solution is to translate the sermon for these people after the prayer. The basic principle is the obligation to listen attentively to the sermon, and whoever engages in idle talk (lagha) will not have a complete Jumu'ah, even though it is still valid for them.
